On behalf of your PTA, we’d like to welcome you all back to school. Normally at this time of year, we’d be meeting you all at Welcome Days, Back to School Nights, and any number of other face-to-face community events. And while those traditions don’t 100% translate to our strange new virtual world, as a PTA we are determined to find ways to adapt; to build different but equally meaningful interactions that bring our BA family together and help ensure the rich, whole child experience for which BA is well known.
The San Carlos School District Opening Up Schools Plan was approved at the June 18 School Board meeting to prepare for school in the fall. You may review it here.
The Opening Up Schools Task Force began work on this plan May 27, 2020. We want to thank the 130 staff and parents who participated in the weekly discussions by providing input and feedback. Staff invested significant time to create this plan based on the San Mateo County Office of Education Pandemic Recovery Framework’s four pillars, stakeholder input, parent and staff surveys, and the ability to implement models based on our current staffing and the availability of space on our campuses, to allow for physical distancing. Staff used the building blocks of health and safety, social-emotional needs of students, and academics as the foundation of the plan.
Here you will find resources and daily lesson plans for your child(ren). Please see your school page to get announcements, guidelines, and procedures. Check in each day via the attendance form located on your school's grade level page. SCSD is obligated by the state of California to continue to track student “attendance.”
Complimentary meals, breakfast and lunch, will be available for pick up at multiple sites in East Palo Alto and Menlo Park from 10:00 am-1:00 pm for children in the Ravenswood community, 18 years & younger. Find out more by clicking on the link above.
With guidance from our School Board, based on learning that the San Mateo County Health Department Officer Dr. Scott Morrow has issued an order to dismiss students in San Mateo County from regular attendance at school from March 16 - April 3, 2020 we will move to a distance learning model beginning on Monday, March 16, as anticipated. In-person classes are suspended as of March 16. All school-run events and activities are cancelled indefinitely including after school sports.
