Guidelines for Volunteering at Brittan Acres
We are so grateful for the time and support families give to Brittan Acres. Parent and caregiver volunteers help create a caring, connected community, whether you’re assisting in the classroom, supervising on the yard, or helping with special events.
To keep things safe and consistent for students, we ask all volunteers to follow these shared expectations:
1, Follow staff direction. Check in with the teacher or staff member you’re supporting and ask how you can help. If you’re unsure about a situation, get a staff member right away.

2. Maintain privacy. What you see or hear about students while volunteering is confidential and should not be shared outside of school.
3. Supervise, don’t discipline. Encourage safe play and help with routines, but let staff handle any discipline or conflict resolution.
4. Respect student boundaries. Please do not approach or question children about conflicts, behavior, or social situations, even if your child is involved. This ensures messages are clear, protects student privacy, and avoids misunderstandings.
5. Keep focus on safety and support. If you notice a concern (emotional or physical), bring it to a staff member rather than trying to resolve it yourself.
6. Be fully present. Phones and personal tasks can wait, because your presence and attention are what make volunteering meaningful and safe.
Our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and consistent experience for every child. By working together and letting teachers and staff guide social and behavioral situations, we can ensure students feel secure and supported at school.
The BA community is stronger because of you!
