Principal Welcome Letter

August 14, 2018

Dear Brittan Acres Staff and Families,

My name is Catherine Waslif, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Brittan Acres Elementary School. I am honored to have been selected to join the San Carlos School District, which is known for its dedication to excellence, but more importantly, to children. Over the past 23 years, I have worked as a classroom teacher, site and district level administrator. However, I consider my most important role in education to be that of a child advocate.  I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I am dedicated to celebrating their successes, small and large, and will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community. My goal is to ensure that all our children are healthy, happy and safe, so they may achieve their personal best.

As your principal, I am committed to ensuring that our students receive a well-rounded education which includes outstanding instruction as well as extracurricular opportunities and social/emotional supports that enable students to develop character, cultivate passions, and explore the world outside of their classroom.

An excellent education is not possible without the collaboration of students, parents, and staff. Over the past few weeks, I have had the privilege of getting to know some of our parents, and staff  while also learning about our rich school history and success. One of the greatest takeaways from these conversations has been the immense enthusiasm and pride for our school and community. I am excited to see your children through your eyes. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they do throughout their days here at Brittan Acres, and of course I will be here to work with you should they need any help navigating any aspect of the school day.

I look forward to a great year ahead! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, and ideas that you would like to discuss. Listed below are some important dates and reminders. Additionally, all class lists will be posted Friday, August 17 at 4:00 p.m.  Have a great rest of the summer!

Warmest regards,

Catherine Waslif, Principal
